- June 2007 - YouTube named it "video identification" then later Content ID
- September 2012 - Over 1/3 of monetized views were from Content ID
- July 2014 - YouTube paid over $1 billion in Content ID revenue
- July 20176 - YouTube paid over $2 billion in Content ID revenue
This is a great way to make money from my music without additional work!
As you can see, there have been many ups and down in the system.
Overall, for creators like you & I this is a great step toward a future with less. artist exploitation.
It's smart to use technology in a way that advances creativity while offering full autonomy to users.
what is the difference between copyright and content iD
Copyright is your legal ownership of intellectual property, and content ID is the system which protects it. YouTube and Google use Content ID for copyright protections.
It is 100% possible to own copyrights and not have Content ID...
In fact, this is the reality for ,most newbie artists.
To claim your content ID, you can't be a lazy bum!
It's a manual process which requires you to select it within the distribution platform.
If you ever get an A&R Music Jobs then your role us to oversee royalty collection!
